This fact is known by the city hall that prepares Alicante’s beaches for their use by many people. Services such as lifeguards are available during the Easter holidays.
Yes, it is. In April, the beaches get work their usual services such as lifeguards. Many people used to colder weather will find April already warm for sunbathing at the beach. Lifeguard services will operate between the 1st to the 10th of April 2023 for the easter holidays. From 11 am to 7 pm.
April is many years, the month for the Easter holidays. The festivity is called Semana Santa in Spanish. The holidays are celebrated all around Spain. The degree of participation of locals in the events greatly depends on the city. Alicante has moderate participation and most of the city centre gets shut down at some times during the day just to allow parades to pass by through the streets.
Be aware that easter is quite an experience in Spain full of parades with music bands, people dressing in special fashions and carrying on their shoulders huge sculptures. It doesn’t necessarily mean that Spain is a very traditional or religious country but the festive traditions are followed by many people even though they might not consider themselves Christians.
If you are planning to go out of the holiday season have in mind some services on the beaches might be shut down again but the beaches themselves remain open for sunbathing and swimming.
