Alicante and Benidorm are separated by 45km (28mi).
There are 4 different ways to go from Alicante to Benidorm: TRAM train, coach/bus, taxi or ride app (Uber, Bolt or Cabify), or private car. Let’s explore the details for each of them and find out what is the most convenient for you.
Alicante – Benidorm by TRAM Train
Alicante’s TRAM is a mix of underground/metro, overground tram and light train.
The TRAM Line from Alicante to Benidorm is TRAM Line 1. Check the timetable from Alicante to Benidorm in this other article.
The TRAM from Alicante to Benidorm crosses 2 fare zones (A and B). A single ticket costs 2.90€. That is the fare since 1 October 2026. The trip takes about 1h15 because the train stops at every station on the way. So the TRAM is not the fastest option but it is the cheapest and also the most beautiful.
Most of the routes go across tracks, tunnels and bridges that were built more than a century ago. Everything has been upgraded, secured or rebuilt but the original tracing has remained.
You often will have views of the sea, cliffs and beaches.
Line 1 trains to Benidorm run about every 30 minutes, more often at peak times and in summer. Check the current times on the TRAM d’Alacant website.
To go from Alicante train station to Benidorm it is necessary to commute from the train station to the closest Tram station in Luceros. It is a 6 min walk.
Alicante to Benidorm TRAM pros:
- It is the cheapest option (2.90€, or less per trip with tram travel cards)
- The trip is very scenic
- Alicante TRAM has a strict schedule and it is punctual
- The TRAM stations are very central: Luceros, Mercado and 5 min away from the train station

Alicante to Benidorm by Coach/Bus
Alicante City has a coach station that services coaches to Benidorm.
It doesn’t take a long time to get to Benidorm by coach, just slightly more time than by car: just below 50 minutes.
The coach company offering Alicante-Benidorm is Alsa.
The tickets can be bought online at alsa.es or in the machines at the coach station. A single ticket costs 6.55€. That is the current Alsa fare (checked on 1 October 2026). There is also an Alsa app for Android and Apple.
Note that only a very few buses start at Alicante and end at Benidorm but the Alicante-Benidorm bus route is part of a longer trip. For example, many buses go from Alicante to Denia, or Malaga to Barcelona, etc.
So be aware of not missing your Benidorm stop!
Alsa runs coaches from Alicante to Benidorm throughout the day, from early morning to late evening. Check the current times on alsa.es.
Alicante’s coach station is in between the cargo harbour and the marina, downhill Avenida Oscar Espla. A long street that starts next to Alicante’s train station. The address is: Muelle Poniente, s/n, 03003 Alicante, Spain.
Please, note that as the buses are usually on-route when they stop at Alicante they can’t guarantee extreme punctuality as the TRAM does. While the TRAM trains are virtually always on time the Alicante to Benidorm bus might be delayed every now and then.
Alicante to Benidorm Coach/Bus pros:
- It is as fast as a car. The trip takes less than 50 minutes.
- It is good value for money: a single ticket costs 6.55€.
Alicante to Benidorm Coach/Bus cons:
- The buses tend to be not as punctual as the trains as most are already on the route and might accumulate delays
- The coach station is a bit far from the city centre. 13 min away walking from the train station, 16 min walk from the TRAM station
Alicante to Benidorm by Taxi, Uber, Bolt or Cabify

The traditional taxis are white in Alicante. Have some linear stickers and wear the distinctive occupied/empty green light on the roof.
Taxis charge the official fare. Uber, Bolt and Cabify show the price before you book, and it changes with demand.
Uber and Cabify also work in Benidorm, so you can book a ride back to Alicante there too. When we checked the Uber app on 27 September 2026, a ride from Benidorm to Alicante started at 53.93€.

Alicante to Benidorm By Car
A private car is one of the fastest and most convenient ways to go from Alicante to Benidorm. Alicante has many rent-a-car companies that you can use on your holidays if you don’t own a car in Alicante.
There are two main routes for driving from Alicante to Benidorm:
- Using the free motorway AP-7. It takes about 37 min
- Through the national single-carriageway road N-332 and takes about 42 min
Both roads’ routes, the free motorway and the national single-carriageway are next to each other and the distance from Alicante to Benidorm is 45km (28mi) in both cases.
The single-carriageway can be more scenic in some of the sections but the motorway is definitely faster. A few years ago the motorway was a toll road but that changed in January 2020.
Cost: about 5.20€ in petrol. That is for the 45km from Alicante to Benidorm in a petrol car that uses 6L/100km, with petrol at 1.93€/L (Spanish average on 30 September 2026).
Remember the general national speed limit in Spain is 120 km/h and the single-carriageway road limit is 90km/h. But always respect the limits in the actual road signs.
Alicante to Benidorm By Car pros:
- Driving yourself is usually faster as it means waiting less time for other means of transport to start the journey, eg. waiting for the taxi or bus
- You get to choose the route you want to drive to, for example, using the more scenic single-carriageway road instead of the motorway
- If you own a car it is cheaper to operate it than to use any other type of transport

Alicante Airport to Benidorm
When travelling from Alicante airport to Benidorm the public transport TRAM option is more difficult to use as you will need to travel to Alicante city centre first.
Even with this inconvenience, there are some other ways to go from Alicante to Benidorm. The best one will depend on your budget and time.
Despite the lack of a train station in Alicante airport, there is a coach/bus station as well as taxis, private taxi transfer companies, car rental companies at the airport and a pick-up/drop-off zone for private cars at Alicante airport.

Alicante Airport to Benidorm By Bus+TRAM Train
There is no train station at Alicante Airport. So to get the TRAM train from Alicante to Benidorm you need to commute first from Alicante Airport to Luceros TRAM Station.
The cheapest way to get from the airport to the Luceros TRAM station in Alicante is the C6 bus. It costs 4.70€, paid by contactless card or with a travel card. It takes about 20–30 minutes to reach Luceros, and there is a bus every 10–12 minutes during the day.
The first bus stop with a connection to the TRAM is Vazquez de Mella. But, two stops later, at Plaza de Los Luceros, 17, is the Luceros TRAM station. If you are not familiar with the TRAM de Alicante service it might be wise to wait and take off the bus at Luceros station.
Luceros TRAM station is the first and main stop in Alicante and the TRAM’s personnel is usually available to help people with their tickets and travel cards. At Mercado and Marq the staff is not always available to attend to the public.

Going from Alicante airport to Benidorm by C6 bus and TRAM costs 7.60€ in total.
The price adds up the C6 bus from the airport to Alicante (4.70€) and the TRAM from Alicante to Benidorm (2.90€ for two zones).
On the bus and the TRAM themselves you spend about 1h45: about 20–30 minutes on the C6 and about 1h15 on the TRAM. On top of that you wait for the C6 (every 10–12 minutes during the day) and for the next train to Benidorm (up to 30 minutes), and you need time to buy your TRAM ticket.
If you decide to take the C6 bus and the TRAM, allow 2h to 2h30 for the whole journey from the airport to Benidorm.
A way to make the journey a bit quicker without breaking the budget is to take a taxi to the TRAM station and then the TRAM. This option is a bit more expensive but less than using a taxi all the way to Benidorm.
Alicante to Benidorm By Bus+TRAM pros:
- The trip is very cheap
- The TRAM and even the bus trips are scenic
- The TRAM trains are comfortable and have A/C for heat and cold
Alicante to Benidorm By Bus+TRAM cons:
- It takes a long time: allow up to 2h30 if you have to wait for both the bus and the TRAM
- You have to change from the bus to the TRAM train
Alicante Airport to Benidorm By Coach/Bus
This is probably the most cost-effective way to travel from Alicante Airport to Benidorm.
The Alsa coach costs 7.99€ (checked on 1 October 2026) and takes 45min to 1h. It leaves from the airport, so you don’t have to go to Alicante first. Coaches run about every hour from early morning to late evening. Check the times before you travel on alsa.es.

The service is a direct bus from Alicante Airport to Benidorm so there are no stops until arriving at Benidorm. The bus uses the motorway (not the single-carriageway curvy road) so it is faster and more comfortable.
Alicante to Benidorm By coach/bus pros:
- The ride takes about 45min to 1h so it is one of the quickest means of transport, just a bit slower than the taxi/car
- It costs 7.99€, about the same as the bus + TRAM combination
- It is a direct service so no stops between the airport and Benidorm

- Sharing transport might not be as comfortable as private transport

Another convenient way to travel to Benidorm is by hiring a transfer service. It is similar to what is called minicabs in the UK.

If you didn’t have time to book your transfer there is no need to panic. Alicante Airport has a taxi rank on the ground floor, next to the arrivals hall.
A taxi from Alicante airport to Benidorm costs about 94€ on the meter by day (1.46€ per km, plus the flag fall and the 4.55€ airport supplement), and about 110€ at night, at weekends and on holidays. There is no need to book the taxi in advance, just wait in the queue and get the first taxi available. Drivers might not speak English but you will find it easy to show them the address on your phone or written on paper.

Another good option to go to Benidorm is by car.

The distance between Alicante Airport and Benidorm is 58km (36mi) and takes from 35min to 1h to travel, depending on traffic.
There are two different routes you can use:
- The motorway A-70 and AP-7 to Benidorm, are both of them free.
- The dual carriageway N-332 to Benidorm. More scenic but much slower.
The most recommended route is using the motorway as it is faster and only use the slower road if you want to enjoy the views.
